PROJECT SCHEDULER

 

Renhill HR on Demand is currently recruiting for a Project Scheduler for a Toledo based company

The Project Scheduler will work closely with the General Manager in organizing and detailing all corporate support functions work to successfully integrate into the overall project schedule. This individual will ensure that an accurate and reliable project planning and scheduling program is established, and implemented. The Project Scheduler will create the baseline schedule, update and monitor schedule progress along with trending and forecasting of schedule completion dates. Summary of Principal Functions:

Construction Phase:

•            Identify the project critical and near critical paths as well as document changes due to schedule updates. Work closely with the General Manager, Engineering Manager, Corporate Support Functions, Assigned Contractors and Project Controls as well as other key project management team members to identify recovery plans to mitigate schedule delays.

•            Work closely with the General Manager, Project Controls, Project Controller as well as other key project team members to ensure accurate planning, monitoring and reporting of project schedule activities through weekly and monthly status reporting.

•            Lead the development and maintenance of the corporate interface schedule into the Level 3 construction schedule.

•            Establish and maintain the project baseline schedules that will be used to evaluate and report schedule progress.

•            Work closely with Cliffs’ contractors and suppliers to integrate their respective detail schedules (Level 3 & Level 4) into the Master Project schedule. Monitor and review weekly/monthly progress details from the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) Consultant, Contractors, and Vendors to verify the reported status and progress, as well as forecast time to complete activities associated with the project.

•            Establish and maintain the Owner’s Schedule for all Owners’ activities including Pre-operations and Commissioning in preparation of project handover.

•            Support the General Manager and project management team in the preparation and distribution of monthly project schedule reports, including management summary reports and explanation of schedule variances.

•            Ability to adapt to and thrive in a rapidly changing environment; demonstrate the willingness and ability to expand personal knowledge and influence, along with departmental effectiveness, by assuming new and/or additional categories, as assigned.

•            Once Project is completed, will transition into an operational role.

Operations Phase:

•            Ensure that all department work performed is done in a safe manner and that all work areas are maintained to meet or exceed all OSHA standards.

•            Promote and encourages teamwork and high performance standards throughout the department.

•            Ensure that the weekly maintenance plan is communicated and coordinated with all those affected.

•            Assist in the development of long-range maintenance management plans and budgets.

•            Develop short-range maintenance schedules.

•            Ensures compliance and implementation of short and long-range maintenance management plans and budgets.

•            Monitor corporate compliance and scorecard metrics.

•            Work with training department to help coordinate maintenance and training schedules.

•            Generate PM work orders as required.

•            Prepare forecasts for future maintenance activities on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

•            Work with supervisors to ensure that all work orders are closed when completed.

•            Update equipment history and equipment component tracking.

•            Work with the planners, supervisors, crafts workers/technicians, and engineers to ensure the equipment improvement activities are occurring.

Education:

•            BS/BA in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required

Experience:

•            At least 2 years’ experience in project planning and scheduling.

•            Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Industrial Plant setting in either operations or maintenance.

•            Experience using Primavera P6 Project scheduling software preferred.

•            Experience with using Microsoft Project Scheduling software.

•            Requires the ability to multi-task on time sensitive projects, high level of initiative, with problem identification and resolution skills.

•            Experience as a team member on cross functional teams supporting concurrent, complex major projects. Demonstrated success in meeting project costs and schedule targets as well as stakeholder expectations

•            Good presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

•            Manufacturing or Construction industry experience an asset.

•            Provide input into and lead value stream and critical driver process mapping.

Travel:

•            Domestic and international, as required

•            To Cleveland-based headquarters and Michigan / Minnesota-based operational sites, as required.

•            Up to 25% estimated, will vary as work load dictates.
